A Sparkling Kitchen

My kitchen is sparkling today. With the help of my oldest son, we tackled two projects that I was dreading, yet (like most things) took no time at all. Of course, the result is so worth the effort!
First, I took down all my pots and lids from my pot rack, and washed the pots and the rack (what a dust magnet!). I then took copper polish to polish the bottom of my pots. Then my helper took a rag and q-tips with some sudsy water and cleaned that grate at the bottom of our refrigerator.
The next thing I want to do with my pots is go get some rhubarb. I just saw on my new favorite show "How Clean is Your House" on BBC America, that you can boil rhubarb in stainless steel and it gets shiny! Speaking of that show, you learn such great cleaning tips. My kids have enjoyed watching it with me, and in fact, to make my son laugh as we were cleaning, I talked to him in the best British accent I could muster :)
It was great to get this done, but most importantly, it was great to bond with my son, while teaching him a valuable lesson on cleaning!
Now off to the pool for the day! I hope you're enjoying your hazy, lazy days of summer :)

Hi Jen - love the new wallpaper on your blog, and the layout! Keep that kitchen sparkling! Liz

Stay, stay at home, my heart, and rest;
Home-keeping hearts are happiest,
For those that wander they know not where
Are full of trouble and full of care;
To stay at home is best.

Weary and homesick and distressed,
They wander east, they wander west,
And are baffled and beaten and blown about
By the winds of the wilderness of doubt;
To stay at home is best.

Then stay at home, my heart, and rest;
The bird is safest in its nest;
O'er all that flutter their wings and fly
A hawk is hovering in the sky;
To stay at home is best.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
