Today is a Big Day!

My oldest baby boy is all done with kindergarten today! I am so excited to have him home every day beginning tomorrow! I love this big boy!

In case you're wondering, his mouth is stuffed with cake and he was still trying to smile!

While most parents that I'm meeting are dreading having their kids home with them every day in the summer (actually most aren't even home, as the parents fill their days with day camps, day care, anything to get them out of the house :( ), for me this is glory. Honestly, I haven't talked about it much (except with my sweet husband), but we pray often about homeschooling. Come fall, my son will be away at school all.day.long - that just doesn't seem right to me. Who will have the most influence over him when he's with them more? We're praying and researching, and seeking the Lord's will for us. The Lord has a perfect plan, and I am confident that if I seek Him daily, through prayer and reading Scripture, He will show us His way.

But anyway, the bottom line is I'm super proud of my boy. He's so smart, and reading like a champ! I love you son!

I struggled with sending Becca to 1st grade way back then, too. It was the hardest decision for us. Becca did great, and her first day was so sad for me - gone all day long...what would I do with myself. I cried when she left....I went to pick her up at school, and asked her if she missed me...she said "I never even thought of you!". I was so shocked - but encouraged because she had a great time in school and love it. I knew all was WELL! But it's funny now when I think back on that day. The Lord will help you make the right decisions....Owen will be influenced at school, but it's what you teach him at HOME is what really matters. Keep up what you're doing - keep showing him love, encouragement, and daily teaching him about God, and His word....Owen will be fine, and you will be too! Love, Liz

Stay, stay at home, my heart, and rest;
Home-keeping hearts are happiest,
For those that wander they know not where
Are full of trouble and full of care;
To stay at home is best.

Weary and homesick and distressed,
They wander east, they wander west,
And are baffled and beaten and blown about
By the winds of the wilderness of doubt;
To stay at home is best.

Then stay at home, my heart, and rest;
The bird is safest in its nest;
O'er all that flutter their wings and fly
A hawk is hovering in the sky;
To stay at home is best.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
